Behavior Zone

Children learn behaviors from a number of places, but your actions and the actions you teach your children through repetitive reinforcement have the biggest impact.  The three keys to teaching your child a new behavior are:

Lay out specific expectations for how you want them to act.  Lay this out in a positive, active manner.  For example - "Brush your teeth at night" would be better then "Don't go to bed without brushing your teeth".
Provide a repetitive reminder of this new behavior.  A daily reminder will be more effective than a casual reminder as you see the need for correction.  Make it a point to catch your child doing things right and give them praise..
Provide a positive reward for consistent compliance.  This does not need to be money or candy.  It can be something like a walk in the park with Mom and Dad or an extra hour of outdoor bike riding.

Jandeo lets parents establish the desired chores and behaviors for each child, and setup rewards for children as they master those chores or behaviors.  You can select from suggested age-appropriate behaviors or add in chores and habits you would like your children to adopt.  Then work with your child to visit Jandeo frequently, or print this weeks behavior chart and talk about every morning at breakfast or on the way to school.  Finally, provide your child an incentive for compliance using rewards that you create.  These rewards can be monetary, or can be certificates for fun activites that you designate!!  Have fun parenting with Jandeo!
